Centre Helps Information Session
Centre Helps, a 501(c)(3) organization located in State College, Pennsylvania. As an organization we are dedicated to bettering the lives of all community members who feel like they have nowhere to turn. Our services are vast but all focus on connecting people in need with appropriate resources and empowering them to make choices that create positive change in their lives. Some of the specific services we provide are a 24/7 hotline that is operated by our extensively trained volunteer counselors. Our hotline counselors take calls ranging from crisis intervention (we are a National Suicide Prevention Lifeline call center), general counseling and emotional support, to resource referral using our database of over 700 resources. Another of our primary programs is a basic-needs program, designed to help clients meet their basic needs through financial, housing, and food assistance. Our final primary program is the Youthful Offenders Program (YOP) which is a court-mandated educational program that educates participants on the effects of drugs and alcohol and (when appropriate) recommends practices for safe use.
We are able to provide these services through the hard work and dedication of our volunteers. We offer an administrative assistant intern position as well as a hotline counselor position. If you are interested in a career in the human service sector, would like insight on how nonprofits work, or simply would like to help those in need please go to https://www.centrehelps.org/ for more information about what we do.
