John Warrington is a Supervisory Special Agent with the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) leading the Charleston and Hilton Head offices for all criminal investigative and crisis response matters. Mr. Warrington has more than twenty-five years of law enforcement, intelligence, and tactical work experience. He specializes in security protocol development, dignitary and workforce deployment protection, threat analysis, and tactical operations.

From 1993 to 1999, Mr. Warrington served as a patrol officer with the United States Capitol Police and Fairfax County Police Departments. In 1999, Mr. Warrington was selected as a Special Agent and attended the FBI Academy in Quantico, Virginia. Upon completion of training, he reported to the Philadelphia Field Office, where he was a member of the Philadelphia SWAT Team and worked violent crime, fugitive, and Latin American and Caribbean drug trafficking cases.

 In 2003, Mr. Warrington transferred to the Washington Field Office to join the FBI Director's Protection Detail. In this role, Mr. Warrington provided personnel protection and operational security for FBI Director, Robert Mueller and his family across the United States and over 50 countries worldwide. Following this role, he deployed to Afghanistan in 2011, where he investigated kidnapping and violent crime matters affecting the United States homeland together with Afghani officials. Upon his return, Mr. Warrington reported to the FBI Pittsburgh Field Office, where he was a SWAT Team Leader and case agent, investigating healthcare and drug diversion cases.

 In September 2013, Mr. Warrington reported back to Washington, D.C., to serve as Unit Chief of the Protective Operations Unit. This unit maintains protection details for the United States Attorney General, the FBI Director, the FBI Deputy Director, their families, and also provides protection services for FBI and DOJ executives and staff. Within this role, Mr. Warrington led the protection strategies for the transitions of FBI Directors Mueller to Comey, and Attorney Generals Holder to Lynch.

 In Jne 2015, Mr. Warrington transferred to the International Operations Division as the Unit Chief of the Global Readiness Unit responsible for the readiness of FBI employees and their families deploying overseas.

 Mr. Warrington has consulted with the United States Secret Service, State Department, and Capitol Police for best practices in facility and force protection matters, and multiple private sector partners including CBS’s “Criminal Minds: Beyond Borders”, ADT, and Gavin De Becker and Associates for active shooter, back to school safety, and international travel security matters.

 Mr. Warrington earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Individual and Family Studies and a Master of Psychology in Leadership from the Pennsylvania State University.
