Victoria Hasko (Ph.D., Penn State) is associate professor of applied linguistics and Slavic studies at the University of Georgia. Since 2018, she has served as the founding director of the UGA Russian Flagship Program, a federally funded initiative targeting professional-level proficiency attainment in Russian, and she also directs UGA's intensive summer immersion programming, including professional residencies, for learners of Russian in the Baltics. Her research examines the acquisition of Russian as a second language, advanced proficiency attainment in less commonly taught languages, and transformative, career-oriented curriculum design. Her recent work includes a co-edited special issue of the Russian Language Journal on career readiness in Slavic language education (2026). She is the recipient of the University of Georgia's 2026 Richard Reiff Award for Campus Internationalization.
