School of Public Policy Fall Speaker Series: “Health Policies as Education Policies? Impacts of Publicly Funded Health Insurance for Adults on Children’s Academic Achievement”

Thursday, December 2, at Noon EST, the School of Public Policy will host the next event in their Fall Speaker Series. The event will be held in 369 Willard Building and on Zoom.

Maithreyi Gopalan, assistant professor of education and public policy, will present "Health Policies as Education Policies? Impacts of Publicly Funded Health Insurance for Adults on Children’s Academic Achievement." Gopalan engages in interdisciplinary, policy-relevant social science research exploring the causes and consequences of racial and socioeconomic disparities in broadly defined student outcomes using experimental and quasi-experimental research methods. She is currently examining the impact of health policies on children’s development and the short- and long-term consequences of adverse adolescent mental health on subsequent educational attainment and life course trajectories.
