Mila Sanina is a journalist with fifteen years of experience leading and innovating local, national, and international newsrooms. Born in the Soviet Union and raised in Kazakhstan, she began her reporting career in Central Asia. She came to the United States as an exchange student in 2005 and earned a master of public and international affairs from the University of Pittsburgh in 2010. She joined the the Donald P. Bellisario College of Communications in fall 2022. Mila will talk about the state of journalism in Central Asia and what it is like to report in authoritarian regimes.
