DESCRIPTION:Announcing International Research Opportunities\n(Travel and
	 Living Expenses paid)\nAre you interested in language?  In languages in
	 a foreign setting? In what is involved in speaking or learning more tha
	n one language?\n\nThe Center for Language Science at Penn State (https:
	//cls.la.psu.edu) has received a multi-year grant from the National Scie
	nce Foundation as part of the Partnerships for International Research an
	d Education (PIRE) program. The project is entitled “Translating cogniti
	ve and brain science in the laboratory and field to language learning en
	vironments\,” and is designed to study the way one or more languages are
	 learned and used across the lifespan. The scope is very broad\, and inc
	ludes the consequences of being or becoming bilingual\, the use of minor
	ity languages and dialects\, and the incorporation of research on langua
	ge into the educational curriculum.\n\nUndergraduate students who partic
	ipate in the PIRE program will have the opportunity to work closely with
	 Penn State research faculty who study language from a variety of perspe
	ctives. They will also spend a summer abroad at one of our partner insti
	tutions (in Europe\, Latin America\, and Asia)\, participating in collab
	orative projects\, both in an academic setting and through educational a
	nd community outreach efforts. This is an excellent opportunity to engag
	e in hands-on research in an exciting field with significant social impl
