Menahem Ben-Sasson, "The Case of Qayrawan: A Jewish Community in Muslim North Africa in the Making of the New Jewish 'Bookshelf'"

Menachem Ben-Sasson, Chancellor of the Hebrew University in Jerusalem, will present a public talk on how Jewish scholars in Qayrawan in North Africa made rich contributions to the global intellectual revolution following the Muslim conquest. The talk will discuss how this Jewish scholarship in many fields of knowledge spread throughout the world and shaped the Jewish "bookshelf" to this day. 

Presented by the Jewish Studies Program, and co-sponsored by the Center for Global Studies at Penn State.
