Mary E. Rolling Reading series presents Toby Thompson

Toby Thompson is the author of six books,​ the most recent of which is Fired On: Targeting Western American Art, published in March 2020 by Bangtail Press. The third in a trilogy of collected pieces of reportorial nonfiction, personal essays, and profiles, Fired On joins Thompson's Riding the Rough String and Metroliner in charting one of the most respected careers in American letters. Thompson's other books are Positively Main Street: Bob Dylan’s MinnesotaSaloon and The ’60s Report. He has written for publications as diverse as Vanity FairEsquireRolling StoneGray’s Sporting JournalGQMen’s JournalSports AfieldPlayboyOutsideBig Sky JournalWestern Art & ArchitectureThe New York Times, and The Washington Post.  He teaches creative nonfiction at Penn State University and lives in Livingston, Montana, and Cabin John, Maryland.
