Yndia S. Lorick-Wilmot, Ph.D., is a writer, sociologist, public scholar and digital creator. She is the 2020 Gloria E. Anzaldúa Award Recipient from the American Studies Association's Committee on Gender and Sexuality.

A senior lecturer in sociology in the College of Professional Studies since 2001, Dr. Lorick-Wilmot was also the inaugural Scholar-in-Residence at Northeastern University's John D. O'Bryant African American Institute (2018–2020).

Her publications and research projects focus on issues impacting diverse racial-ethnic and immigrant communities across the Americas. Dr. Lorick-Wilmot is the author of two books: (1) Creating Black Caribbean Ethnic Identity (2010), which was awarded “Recommended Read for Undergraduate and Graduate students, Community Organizers and Nonprofits,” by Choice Magazine Reviews, Association of Colleges and Research Libraries (ACRL) in 2011; and (2) Stories of Identity among Black, Middle Class, Second Generation Caribbeans: We, Too, Sing America (2018); as well as articles, white papers and book chapters.

Dr. Lorick-Wilmot's third book is part of a larger digital media project, Journeys of Belonging 2 Blackness, which includes a YouTube Channel and podcast Talking Journeys of Belonging 2 Blackness (available on Spotify, Google and Apple Podcast, Stitcher and TuneIn).  Journeys of Belonging 2 Blackness is an ethnographically grounded, sociologically, and historically informed audio and visual media arts project that reveals the complexities generated by gaps and omissions in public accounts of African descendant racial/ethnic identity and personhood, gender, nativity, and bio-geographic ancestry.   For more information, please visit www.yndialorickwilmot.com
