Screening: Irish Democracy Student Documentary Shorts on Culture, History, and Democratic Practice

Students from the 2025 Maymester course The Culture of Deliberative Democracy in Ireland (CAS/PLSC 299H) studied the particular workings of Irish democracy, drawing upon the nation's cultural context, historical and political legacies, and the successes and failures of the Irish Citizens’ Assemblies as entry points for investigation. Each group chose a particular aspect of culture or politics to explore. The result is five fascinating documentaries that, together, provide both a breadth and depth of insight for how and why Ireland's democracy functions as it does.
