SUMMARY:IHRM Webinar Series
DESCRIPTION:\nABOUT THE PRESENTATION\n\nGenerative artificial intelligen
ce (AI) is transforming the way multilingual virtual teams communicate\,
yet we know little about how this transformation will affect MVTs. Gene
rative AI tools\, such as Google Translate for machine translation and C
hatGPT for language editing\, hold the potential to significantly reduce
language barriers\, challenging the relevance of existing language-rela
ted theories and empirical insights in international management research
. On the other hand\, the current imperfections in generative AI could i
ntroduce new misunderstandings to communication and multilingual virtual
team members’ apprehension about integrating generative AI in teamwork
may hamper team dynamics and inclusivity. The future impact of generativ
e AI on multilingual virtual teams hinges on the development of AI techn
ologies to overcome current imperfections and on how multilingual virtua
l team members adapt to\, and embrace such technologies. This webinar di
scusses the impact of generative AI on multilingual virtual teams as a d
ouble-edged sword and explores several potential scenarios for the futur
	e of communication.\n\nABOUT THE SPEAKER\n\nHelene Tenzer is associate p
rofessor of international management at LMU Munich School of Management
in Germany. Her research interests include language diversity in multina
tional organizations\, multilingual and virtual teams\, leadership in mu
ltinational organizations\, international HRM and OB. Helene is on the e
ditorial review boards of Academy of Management Review\, Journal of Worl
d Business and Management International Review. Her work has been publis
hed in journals such as the Journal of International Business Studies\,
Leadership Quarterly\, Journal of World Business\, and Academy of Manage
ment Learning and Education. Helene also runs a mailing list for interna
tional management researchers with an interest in language\, which curre
ntly has about 130 international subscribers.\n\n&nbsp\;\n\nFor more det
