SUMMARY:IHRM Webinar Series
DESCRIPTION:\nABOUT THE PRESENTATION This webinar introduces a forthcomi
ng Special Issue of The International Journal of Human Resource Manageme
nt (IJHRM) that explores Strategic Human Resource Management (SHRM) in t
he Global South\, a context significantly underrepresented in SHRM resea
rch. The Special Issue aims to uncover contextual complexities and chall
enges that shape human resource management practices across diverse Glob
al South environments. While SHRM research has made notable progress in
unpacking internal mechanisms\, it has yet to fully account for the soci
o-economic\, cultural\, and institutional realities that define many non
	-WEIRD (Western\, Educated\, Industrialized\, Rich\, and Democratic) con
texts and inform HR practices in these contexts. Drawing on empirically
grounded contributions that advance context-sensitive theorizing\, this
webinar will examine how juxtaposing content (the “what” of HR systems)
with the process (the “how” and “why”) yields a more nuanced understandi
ng of SHRM dynamics. We will also critically reflect on how organization
s in the Global North can derive actionable insights from these perspect
ives. This webinar represents a timely scholarly endeavor to bridge theo
retical advancement with global contextual relevance\, ultimately enrich
ing how SHRM is conceptualized and practiced across diverse settings.\n\
	n&nbsp\;\n\nSPEAKERS:\n\nMichel Hermans Professor\, IAE Business School\
, Department of Organizational Behavior and Human Resource Management\n\
