SUMMARY:The Iberian Modernist Studies Collaborative Colloquia (second seminar)
DESCRIPTION:\n	Transatlantic Exchanges from &ldquo\;Modernity&rdquo\; to
Modernism&nbsp\;\n\nwith Tania Martuscelli (University of Colorado\, Bo
ulder)\n\n&nbsp\;History - or the &ldquo\;North Atlantic abstract univer
sal fictions&rdquo\;\, as Mignolo and Walsh (2018) put it -\, teaches us
to understand modernity in Latin America as the inaugural European enco
unter that led to colonization. Modernism\, however\, opens the door to
creativity and internationalization\, as in the case of Brazil and Portu
gal. This presentation will discuss the notion of colonization by re-vis
iting the &ldquo\;history&rdquo\; of cultural exchange between these two
	 countries\, through bi-lateral editorial projects.\n\nContact info: Kri
	sta Brune (kbrune@) and Nicol&aacute\;s Fern&aacute\;ndez-Medina (nuf3@)
