German Day

Wednesday, April 10, 2019
10:15 a.m.–2:50 p.m.
Alumni Hall, HUB-Robeson Center

The Department of Germanic and Slavic Languages and Literatures at Penn State University invites middle school and high school German students to German Day 2019. It will be a fun-filled day of German language activities, including a poster and movie competition, a spelling bee, poetry recitation, and a German trivia game. Students will also have the opportunity to practice their German (and earn prizes!), learn more about studying German at Penn State, visit a German language class, and get a tour of campus.

This year’s overall theme is “Weimar Cinema” – an era in German film production which until this day continues to fascinate a wide audience with films like “Das Cabinet des Dr. Caligari” (1920), “Der Golem, wie er in die Welt kam” (1920), “Der letzte Mann” (1924), “Metropolis” (1926), and “Die Büchse der Pandora” (1929), to name just a few.

If you are interested in volunteering at German Day, please contact Volunteer Coordinator Mary Fisk at mmf5251 AT psu DOT edu with your availability.
