SUMMARY:First-Year Lecture
DESCRIPTION:\nKirt H. Wilson\, associate professor and head of the Depar
tment of Communication Arts and Sciences\, will explore how communicatio
n shapes our lives\, our identities\, and our relationships.  \n\nCommun
ication\, he argues\, is one of the most essential but taken-for-granted
human activities\, from one-on-one conversations to group discussions a
nd even cross-cultural exchanges. Wilson shows in his lecture how listen
ing\, thinking\, and sharing ideas can keep a community connected\, even
when people disagree or see the world differently.  \n\nIn a time when
divisions feel sharper than ever before and real differences of opinion
persist\, it’s important to create spaces where open conversations can h
appen and people feel free to change their minds. Penn State—and especia
lly the College of the Liberal Arts—is one of those spaces\, but keeping
it that way takes everyone’s effort. \n\nThis event is co-sponsored by
Liberal Arts Ambassadors\, Liberal Arts Undergraduate Council\, and Mino
rities in the College of the Liberal Arts. \n\nFor more details: https:/
