Liberal Arts First-Year Lecture

Nick Pearson, associate teaching professor of psychology, will present the first-year lecture, “Psychology, Sustainability, and Circuity: Three Words That Sound Like They Should Start With The Same Letter, And How They Can Save The Planet,” which relates to the college’s Moments of Change: Creating a Livable Planet sustainability-focused theme.

He will discuss how the field of psychology (and the liberal arts more generally) can help us achieve a healthy and sustainable future. The intersection of psychology and environmentalism will be explored with a focus on individual actions.

Nick earned his bachelor’s, master’s, and doctoral degrees from Penn State. He is chair of the Department of Psychology’s Green Team and an active member of the Liberal Arts Sustainability Council.
