Film Screening: Timestamp
By Kateryna Gornostai

In the midst of war, the school bell still rings. A new documentary by acclaimed Ukrainian filmmaker Kateryna Gornostai, Timestamp (2025) offers a deeply affecting story that captures the fragile rhythms of everyday school life amid war. Traversing classrooms in Cherkasy, Kharkiv, Borodianka, and Bucha, the film offers an unvarnished, observational portrait of students and teachers persevering through learning, laughing, sheltering, and striving for a future despite the constant shadow of Russia’s full-scale invasion. Without voice-over or staged interviews, Timestamp immerses you directly into the lived reality of a generation growing up while the world watches. A striking testament to resilience, hope, and the enduring power of education in dark times.

Yuliya V. Ladygina will introduce the film and lead a Q&A session after the screening.
