Douglass Day 2025

In collaboration with the Library of Congress (LOC), participants of the Center for Black Digital Research’s annual event honoring the chosen birthday of Frederick Douglass will transcribe material from the African American Perspectives Collection on the LOC’s By the People platform. Materials to be transcribed will go live on Friday, February 14. Libraries at Altoona, Berks, Brandywine, Fayette, Greater Allegheny and University Park campuses look forward to hosting faculty, students, staff, and community members who can stop by for transcribing, buttons, stickers, and birthday cake. More information including local contacts are at douglassday.org/penn-state. The University Park campus event will be in the Dewey Collaboration Commons, ground floor West Pattee Library; its registration link is bit.ly/psu-dday25.

Please contact Racine Amos (rla5306@psu.edu) if your campus would like to host an event.
