Critical Philosophy of Race after Ten Years

 

Beginning on March 15th a two-day conference will be held in the Foster Auditorium, Room 102 in the Paterno Library, to celebrate the tenth year of publication of the Critical Philosophy of Race journal that is housed in the Rock Ethics Institute. The conference will also mark the end of the grant awarded to the philosophy department by the Andrew W. Mellon Foundation in recognition of its work mentoring and recruiting philosophy students of color and it will feature a number of speakers who have benefited from the activities made possible by the grant. Beginning at 1:30pm on the afternoon of Wednesday, March 16th a session will be held to commemorate the contributions of Charles Mills to critical philosophy of race. The keynote speaker is Professor Linda Alcoff (CUNY) who will speak on “The Roots (and Routes) of Mills’ Concept of Ignorance.

 

*PLEASE NOTE: Masking is required while inside University buildings regardless of vaccination status by all individuals including guests and speakers. For large events, however, if the speaker is on a stage, at a podium or otherwise physically distanced from the audience, the speaker may remover their mask while delivering their remarks.
