“Cognitive Rhetoric: Models, Probability, Metaphor”
Leif Weatherby

Decision Theory and Behavioral Science continue to war over what counts as human rationality. This talk revisits the "representativeness controversy," finding that our addiction to prediction today stems from a rhetorical—even postmodern—turn in psychology.

Leif Weatherby, founding director of the digital theory lab and associate professor, studies systems of representation, especially computational and language, focusing on their cultural aspects.
