The Comparative Literature Luncheon Series: Ranjan Ghosh

Professor Ranjan Ghosh teaches in the Department of English, University of North Bengal. An Alexander von Humboldt International Fellow, Ghosh has recently been elected and inducted as Member of European Academy of Sciences and Arts for his outstanding contribution in the field of interdisciplinary studies. He has been invited as Tagore Professor 2024 at the Institute of South Asian Studies, University of California, Berkeley.

He has authored more than hundred papers in leading journals like, Critical Inquiry, Diacritics, SubStance, University of Toronto Quarterly, MLN, Comparative Education Review, Canadian Review of Comparative Literature, Symploke, Oxford Literary Review, History and Theory, Clio, American Book Review, the Minnesota Review and others, and has seventeen books to his name which include Thinking Literature Across Continents (with J Hillis Miller, Duke University Press 2016), Trans(in)fusion: Reflections for Critical Thinking (London, Routledge 2020), The Plastic Turn (Cornell University Press 2022), Plastic Tagore (Oxford University Press 2024) and others. He is completing a trilogy on plastic studies – the first was The Plastic Turn, the second book Plastic Figures is again forthcoming from Cornell University Press in 2025 and the third volume is called Plastic Arts.
