2025 Brown Democracy Medal Ceremony and Lecture

Join the McCourtney Institute for Democracy as we honor the Rendell Center for Civics and Civic Engagement with the 2025 Brown Democracy Medal. Established in 2014, the Rendell Center works with K–12 teachers and administrators to promote non-partisan civic education and engagement. The center’s major initiatives include a read aloud series where judges, lawyers and other professionals read books to elementary school students across the state.

Rendell Center co-founder Judge Marjorie Rendell and Executive Director Beth Specker will accept the medal and present a lecture based on their forthcoming book, A Republic If You Can Teach It: Educating the Next Generation of Citizens.
