In this talk, Abel Azcona will review some of his most important work and performances in the past. By mixing the projection of some of his pieces, the artist will give insight on how his artistic practices envision autobiography as a key concept in the making of his art. The artist will review pieces that focus on memory, trauma, family relationships and the impact they have on both the private and the public sphere.
Abel Azcona (Pamplona, 1988) is a contemporary artist, performance artist and author whose practice is built around autobiography, the body and memory. From a radically autobiographical perspective, Azcona uses his body, his history and his family relationships as working materials. His projects explore the boundaries between the private and the public, truth and fiction, documentation and representation. Writing, performance, video, photography, drawing, installation, sculpture and the archive are the key part of a process-based practice in which creating also means revealing, confronting, remembering and processing.
