SUMMARY:Author Meets Critics Panel
DESCRIPTION:\nOut of every 100 Latino/a/x immigrants\, only 1 works in t
he elite labor force—as doctors\, engineers\, or financial analysts. Why
is the largest immigrant group in the U.S. the least represented in job
s most Americans deem a ‘success’? Based on 100 interviews which follow
Latino immigrants across their journeys from school to work\, this book
argues that every institution shepherding students to the workplace beco
me interconnected institutions of marginalization for Latino immigrants.
To rectify that inequality\, laws\, schools\, and workplaces need syste
mic\, cross-institutional change.\n\nA light breakfast will be served fr
