Alumni Career Conversation: Recruiting

Join us for our monthly series "Alumni Career Conversations" when one alumni mentor from our Alumni Mentor Program joins us to share more about their career path, industry, and helpful advice! A great way to network and learn more about various careers.

John Allegro '17, Recruiter, Talent Acquisition Team, Federal Reserve Board, Washington, D.C.

John will be discussing both careers in human resources and recruiting as well as internship and job opportunities with the Federal Reserve Board.

John (2017, MA – Educational Theory and Policy, BS – Education and Public Policy) is a recruiter on the Talent Acquisition team at the Federal Reserve Board in Washington, D.C., where he oversees a portfolio of technical and non-technical full life-cycle recruiting, the agency’s New Employee Orientation program, and a portion of its early career strategy & summer intern program. He serves as co-chair of the LGBTQA+ Employee Resource Group, leading event planning & educational programming.

While at Penn State, John did a 4+1 master’s program in the Education Policy program (College of Education). While on campus, John worked as a graduate assistant in Smeal, a resident life coordinator in Pollock, sang in the choir, Essence of Joy, and a-cappella group, “The Coda Conduct”, and a few volunteer activities.

Outside of work, John sings with his choir, the “Essence of Joy Alumni Singers”, volunteers with “Out for Undergrad”, a non-profit organization focused on professional development and career readiness of LGBTQ+ students, and is an indoor cycling enthusiast and coffee lover.
