SUMMARY:African Studies Virtual Forum: Decoloniality and Southern Epistemologies
	--Kwesi Kwa Prah
DESCRIPTION:\nThe African Studies Virtual Forum 2020&ndash\;2021 led by
Dr. Sinfree Makoni seeks to decenter hegemonic epistemologies and to dec
olonize the Western canon to facilitate other ways/waves of knowing. Thr
ough a series of online conversations\, participants in the Forum will c
hallenge the notion of the &ldquo\;universal truth&rdquo\; and discuss h
ow the only truth that is universal is the truth of complexity. To decol
onize knowledge\, epistemic perspectives need to be pluralistic in ontol
ogies\, cosmologies\, and insights\, and the emergence of Southern Epist
emologies is one such response to the decolonial turn. \n\nJoining us fr
om around the world\, our speakers will discuss the multiple approaches
taken in the humanities and social science scholarship to decolonize kno
wledges by paying attention to complexities\, heterogeneities\, and mult
iple ontologies.\n\nIf you are unable to attend any of these sessions\,
you can watch the full recorded zoom sessions on our&nbsp\;YouTube chann
	el&nbsp\;@PSU African Studies.\n\nFor more details: https://events.la.ps
