A Radio Theater Premiere by Trafika Europe : THE ORPHIC ILLEGAL by Yuri Andrukhovych
Tuesday, April 25 at 6:30pm
Penn State University, 113 Carnegie University Park, PA 16802
This play is based on scenes from one of the great novels of contemporary Ukraine -- Perverzion by Yuri Andrukhovych. Translated into English by Michael M. Naydan and Vasyl Byalyk, the play has been adapted for radio performance. In World Literature Today, Vitaly Chernetsky calls Perverzion "[a] brilliant postmodernist tour-de-force". The performance is an actor read-through in the comfortable Carnegie Cinema with sound effects and recording for later use in the future on Trafika Europe Radio. It’s the fourth and final production in a series of absurd theatrical performances from Central and Eastern Europe, adapted for radio and performed at Penn State this semester by and for Trafika Europe. Come and see what all the excitement is about!
This event is open to the public & free of charge Sponsored by the Department of Germanic and Slavic Languages and Literatures, School of Global Languages, Literatures and Cultures, and the Woskob Family Endowment in Ukrainian Studies
