Valerie Mueller, associate professor in the School of Politics and Global Studies at Arizona State University, will present “‘Sunny Day’ Flooding and Mortality Risk” as part of the School of Public Policy’s Spring Speaker Series.
Mueller received her doctorate in agricultural and resource economics at the University of Maryland. Before joining ASU, she was an economist at the International Food Policy Research Institute (IFPRI) and an Earth Institute Postdoctoral Fellow at Columbia University.
She has devoted her career to measuring rural household vulnerability to climate variability in Africa and Asia. Her recent interest is to identify the impacts of sea-level rise on factors influencing location choice in the U.S. and Bangladesh.
