The event will be followed by a celebration of Mimouna, the Maghrebi Jewish dinner marking the return to eating unleavened bread after Passover.
Join Israeli filmmaker Rafael Balulu for a talk and discussion exploring Israel and contemporary Jewish life through his family story and his films, which portray the lives, cultures, and shared histories of Jews across the Middle East and North Africa. The program highlights voices, stories, and realities often overlooked in mainstream discourse, offering a different and at times more hopeful perspective on contemporary politics.
Born in Israel to Moroccan parents, Rafael Balulu is an award-winning filmmaker, writer, and producer. As a leading voice in the new wave of Mizrahi culture, he advocates for peace and a deeper understanding of Jewish-Muslim life by illuminating their shared histories and cultural ties across Jewish and Muslim communities in the MENA region.
