Ivone Olmedo, executive board member of the Bloom Hospital Workers’ Union (SITHBLOOM), offered a talk titled “Fighting Health Care Privatization in El Salvador.” Alexis Stoumbelis of the Committee in Solidarity with the People of El Salvador (CISPES) served as translator for the event.
Ivonne and Alexis discussed recent debates surrounding a privatization law in El Salvador, officially titled the Public-Private Partnership (P3) law, and past victories against such privatization attempts in the country. They also commented on how Salvadoran and U.S. labor movements could support one another in struggles of this sort.
